Collectivization referred to the agricultural policy adopted by the Soviet Union and pursued most rigorously between 1929 and 1933. Under this policy, the peasants were forced to give up their farms to the government and join large government-held collective farms. This policy's primary aim was to bring equality amongst everyone and reduce the rich peasants' economic power.
