Two months ago Harry was asked to prepare cash budget with a very short notice. He did an excellent job and handled it before the due date. However his supervisor didn’t even notice that it was a very good job, he immediately assigned another hard job. The managers had treated Sue in the same manner last year. Now Sue has been asked to prepare a feasibility report for the new production facility that the firm was thinking of building. Although it is a hard job, Sue thinks that she will be able to prepare a very good report. However she is very unwilling to prepare it and although time is limited she hasn’t even started to prepare. Sue and Harry began to discuss their supervisors. They thought that their supervisor doesn’t care about their well-being, but he is ready whenever supervision is needed. He clarifies the tasks well, and helps the employees to solve problems related to the job but otherwise, he never interferes. On the other hand, the leader doesn’t let employees try new things and take decisions on important matters. What would you do in order to increase Sue’s and Harry’s motivation?
