The arteries, arterioles, veins, venules and capillaries are the blood vessels forming the cardiovascular system. The function of the arteries is to carry the blood away from the heart and the veins are responsible to carry blood towards the heart. The exchange of substances between the blood and tissues is facilitated by the capillaries. 
A network of blood vessels are involved in circulating blood to all the parts of the body. The heart is divided into two parts, each part containing a atrium and a ventricle. The four chambers of heart are the left atrium, left ventricle, right atrium and right ventricle. 
The left side of the heart receives the oxygenated blood from the lungs and is sent to the rest of the body. The right side of the heart receives the deoxygenated blood and is sent to the lungs thought the pulmonary arteries.
