There are a lot of myths about climate change. One that stood out to me that I found online is that “Earth’s climate has changed naturally in the past, so modern climate change must also be a natural process”. We know that this statement is a myth and not true because of the International Panel On Climate Change or otherwise known as IPCC. Created in 1988 by the world meteorological organisation and the United Nations Environment Programs their main goal is to “provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts”. The IPCC reports show the rise of greenhouse gases, the main one being CO2 which is responsible for over half the enhanced greenhouse effects. We know that humans are responsible for putting CO2 into the atmosphere from things like burning fossil fuels and car emissions. This being said shows that the myth is wrong because humans are the cause for the rise in CO2 making the modern climate change not natural.
