Using energy techniques solve the following problem(s)
The same firework cannon is used to fire an identical 0.8 kg payload with an initial velocity of 80 m/s but it now has an angle of elevation of 75°. (a) Since the 1.2 m long cannon is now tilted 75°, what is the starting height of the payload when it leaves the cannon? (b) What is the maximum height of the payload? When it gets to its highest point, the payload's horizontal velocity will be unchanged, but its vertical velocity will be zero. Use this knowledge to find the kinetic energy of the payload at its maximum height. The remaining energy will all be in the form of gravitational potential energy. Use that to find the maximum height. (What to avoid: there might be a temptation to think that the y-component of kinetic energy has converted to gravitational potential energy, but this will mislead you as energy cannot be separated into x and y components. Those that are particularly good at math maybe able to reason out how this incorrect idea will lead you to the wrong value.)

- A dart gun has a spring of spring constant k = 13 N/m which is used to shoot a dart of mass m. The dart leaves the gun at a speed of v = 3.7 m/s after the spring is compressed 1 cm. What is the weight, Fg in Newtons, of the dart? What is the dart’s speed when it hits the floor vf, in m/s, if it is fired horizontally at a height of h = 2 meters? Questions 4 and 5 refer to the Ballistic Spring shown below, where a projectile of mass m travelling with an initial velocity v impacts and travels through a block with mass M, emerging with a velocity , and causing the spring with constant k that is attached to the block to be compressed a distance d. m Vo Before M wwwww M Wowwwww Afterarrow_forward
