The lungs are the major organs taking part in respiration. There is a pair of lungs - the right one is two-lobed and the left is three-lobed. They have small alveolar structures that hold oxygen from the air we breathe in. These alveolar sacs are also the site for the gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide from blood to make it oxygenated which is then carried back to the heart to be pumped to the rest of parts of the body.
