How was the Jackson County Superior Court and District Attorney able to justify the exclusion of Mexican Americans from juries of criminal court trials? Was there a racial social structure in Jackson County? How was this racial social structure and its distribution of rights, services, privileges and social status justified? Was there segregation of Mexican Americans from public facilities like schools, restaurants, and restrooms? If Mexican Americans are not a separate race, why were they denied their civil rights prior to the Hernandez case?
