Mental Health
The Chinese Mini-Mental Status Test (CMMS) consists of 114 items intended to identify people with Alzheimer’s disease and senile dementia among people in China [14]. An extensive clinical evaluation of this instrument was performed, whereby participants were interviewed by psychiatrists and nurses and a definitive diagnosis of dementia was made. Table 3.13 (attached) shows the results obtained for the subgroup of people with at least some formal education. Suppose a cutoff value of <20 on the test is used to identify people with dementia.
These are the questions I need help with. Please use Stata if using any software. Thank you so much!!
3.87 What is the sensitivity of the test?
3.88 What is the specificity of the test?
Extra q: Using the mental health data and cutoff value of < 20 on the test for 3.87 and 3.88 compute and
interpret the following:
a. False positive rate
b. False negative rate
c. PV+
d. PV-

A more accurate picture is obtained by obtaining a detailed food diary (DR) for several days that are randomly chosen over a certain time period. The data obtained from a frequent food questionnaire can be compared with the food diary to assess the validity of the questionnaire. The data below are for seven individuals who participated in such a study on alcohol consumption. (In this exercise, we examine the age beginning transition and in Exercise 6.107 we examine the age of their earliest memories.) In the study of 210 transgender adults, the mean age at which they began transitioning was 32.6 with a standard deviation of 18.2. To test the hypothesis, ten pairs of identical twins were obtained at infancy. One member of each twin pair was brought up in a stressful environment. Data on "susceptibility to schizophrenia" were collected for the two groups of identical twins; "susceptibility to schizophrenia" was measured on an interval scale. what statistical test would be most appropriate for testing the research hypothesis? Explain your answer.
- According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) sponsored by the U.S. government, a random sample of 712 males between 20 and 29 years of age and a random sample of 1,001 males over the age of 75 were chosen and the weight of each of the males were recorded (in kg).
