Steam is used in an ideal combined reheat and regenerative system as shown
in figure A (turbine and pumps operate adiabatically with an isentropic
coefficient of 1). The total mass flow rate of the working fluid enters the first
stage of the turbine. A split of the mass flow rate occurs at point 6. The net
output of the cycle is 10 MW. The feed water heater operates adiabatically.
The quality of the saturated mixture at the exit of the turbine (stage II, point
8) is 0.92286259.
(a) Determine each point of the cycle. State which point is superheated steam,
which point is saturated liquid etc and justify your answer
(b) Estimate the temperature of the working fluid at points 2, 4 and 5
(c) Show the cycle in a T-s diagram
(d) Determine the ratio of the two mass flow rates mi5/m,
(e) Determine the thermal efficiency of the cycle
(f) Calculate the mass flow rate in the first stage of the turbine
