South Africans are set to go to the polls on November 1, 2021, to elect councils for all local, metropolitan and district municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. This election will be the sixth municipal election held in South Africa since the advent of democracy in 1994. Municipal elections are held every five years. The previous municipal elections were held in 2016. It is the right of all South Africans (18 years and above) to vote. Although the importance of voting in the elections is quite clear, some people are not as eager to vote, as they should especially the young people. Furthermore, the pandemic has also triggered many mixed and negative attitudes that people are trying to grapple with. Explain these attitudes by referring to the three components of attitudes and indicate strategies that can be used to change their attitudes.
