respond to the statmement as to why you agree in regards to social diversity and how it affects US society. The United States was founded on diversity based on the freedoms to practice religious freedoms. Most of all the citizens of the United States are immigrants or descendants from other lands and is like a melting pot of culture and ethnicity. Despite the diversity there has been and still is racism and inequalities. Looking back the rough history and the current state of affairs it seems as though people struggle to appreciate and accept diversity. Having varying cultures and ethnicities does bring a level of difficulty when trying to ensure that every group is understood because of the many facets of each culture. Language is a large inhibitor to understanding. When people cannot communicate it can be difficult to find resolutions, compromise and understanding. The United States is so diverse that many languages are spoken here. This barrier can and does keep people segregated. One of the conflicts in diversity has been between the American and Mexican cultures. With many immigrants from Mexico seeking refuge in America the Mexican population has grown and creates a blend of diversity in California. This shift is an example of how America is one of the most diverse countries in the world.
