Question

Note, Zero for y= x-2   is 2

Zero for y=(x-2)3    is 2 . However we say its multiplicity is 3. which is the power of (x-2) factor.

So multiplicity of a zero,  is the power of the factor that gives that zero, in this case it is power of  (x-2).

1- We know, Y = (x-2)3 (x+1)2 has two zeros, 2 and -1

1a - what is multiplicity of 2 as a zero for above y? why?

1b - what is multiplicity of -1 as a zero for above y? why?

2- what are zeros and their multiplicity for y = -2 x3 (x-4)5
