So, apparently when I asked this before, I instead of actually getting an answer, I just got my own code spit back at me. What I'm actually trying to do is convert the python code (image) into Java, and for some reason, my code isn't compiling, and I have no idea why. I'll post my work so far, but I want to know why it isn't working in the first place. class Person{ public String Name; public int Age; public String isStudent; public Person(String Name, int Age) { this.Name = Name; this.Age = Age; this.isStudent = "False"; } public void birthday() { Age += 1; } public void straw() { String result = ""; result += Name + " is "; if (isStudent = "True") { result += "a student "; } else { result += "not a student "; } result += "and is " + Age + " years old"; System.out.println(result); } } class Student extends Person{ public Student(String Name, int Age){ super(Name, Age); isStudent = "True"; } @Override public void straw(){ super.straw(); } @Override public void birthday(){ super.birthday(); } } public class Main{ public static void main(String[] args) { Student z = new Student("Bob", 20); z.straw(); z.birthday(); z.straw(); Person r = new Person("Rob", 22); r.straw(); } }
