Please describe the work of Ebbinghaus and his concept of the forgetting curve.

Hermann Ebbinghaus was a german psychologist who extensively studied rote learning and memory. After finishing his Phd from Bonn university he became assistant professor in Friedrich Wilhelm University, Berlin.

Forgetting refers to loss of remembered information with time. There are many theories of forgetting but interference theory is widely accepted which considers that interference with previously stored data is the chief reason behind forgetting.
