Question
describe the molecular machinery required for perception of our sense of smell olfaction
Expert Solution

Step 1
Introduction:
The human brain accepts information which is present external to the surface of the body via sense organs, that are, tongue, skin, ear, nose and eye. The sense of olfaction (smell) is thoroughly advanced in dogs and rabbits referred to as macrosmatic, but is lesser in apes, monkeys and man, referred to as microsmatic. The olfaction comes when the receptors present in the olfactory mucous membrane gets stimulated.
