name one cell within Epithelial Tissue and describe how it fulfils the concept of form and function
There are four basic types of tissue in our body based on which the whole system of our body tissue is laid. These four tissues are; Epithelial, Muscular, Smooth, and Neural. Among these, the tissue which covers all the surface (internal and external) is called the epithelial tissue.
Epithelial tissues are of two types; Simple and Compound
Simple consists of those which are arranged in a single layer and is present mainly in regions of exchange. These are of 4 types; Simple squamous, simple cuboidal, simple columnar, and simple pseudostratified. Similarly, compounds are also of 4 types; Compound squamous, compound columnar, compound cuboidal, and compound pseudostratified.
Step by stepSolved in 2 steps
- When looking at a slide of epithelial tissue under the microscope, you see several clearly defined layers of flat-shaped cells. Which of the following best describes the type of epithelial tissues viewed? simple squamous stratified squamous simple cuboidal stratified cuboidal psuedostratified columnararrow_forwardWhich of the following characteristics is common of epithelial cells? Has a basal surface that faces the internal or external environment. Is supported by a deeper neural tissue. Possess a large amount of fibers in the extracellular matrix. Often plays a role in secretion. Cells are often separated by ground substance.arrow_forwardIn the following table, describe the types of cells and the extracellular matrix fibers that are present in each type of dense connective tissue. Type of dense connective tissue Types of cells Extracellular matrix fibers Dense regular connective tissue Dense irregular connective tissuearrow_forward
- Name and briefly describe the three main structural elements of connective tissue.arrow_forwardEpithelial tissue Draw a typical epithelial cell, include the apical portion, villi, basal portion, nucleus. I don't know where I draw the picture of the epithelium tissue about the apical portion, villi, basal portion, nucleus. Can you help me, please?arrow_forwardWhich of the following would NOT be considered an example of a type of connective tissue? blood bone tendons ligaments smooth musclearrow_forward
- Which of the following statements about epithelial tissue is/are TRUE? Cuboidal epithelial cells are fragile, flat and scale-shaped, and specialized for the diffusion of small molecules. A single layer of epithelial cells is described as simple epithelia. The lining of the skin is composed of simple squamous epithelial tissue. Because of its highly vascular network of capillaries, epithelial tissue provides the nutrients for the underlying connective tissues. Simple columnar epithelial cells are found lining the stomach. A stratified squamous epithelium is found where mechanical stresses are severe. Epithelial tissue continually repairs and renews itself. The transitional epithelium of the urinary bladder permits the frequent distension and recoil.arrow_forwardAll of the following are functions of connective tissues, except energy and mineral storage. structural support. binding organs together. transport of nutrients, wastes.arrow_forwardEpithelial tissues are widespread throughout the body. They cover all body surfaces, line body cavities, and hollow organs, and are the major tissue in glands. Can you explain the different functions of epithelium tissue in our body in detail?arrow_forward
