Question
My friend told me that negative exponents "sometimes" inverse the fraction (i.e X-2 +2 / 5 = 5/ x-2 +2.) I don't understand why it only applies "sometimes", he told me "it's a notation issue that no one knows what to do with" . Now I'm confused on what to do when I see a negative exponent.

- Thank you! This might be a stupid question... but how do you algebraically solve the part where you divide A sub n+1 by a sub n? How did you get 1+(3^n)+3 in the numerator? I thought the answer would be 2n(1+3^n+1)? Please explain that. I didn't understand that during class either.arrow_forwardWhat is meant by a proper rational expression?arrow_forwardThe question says: "Put each fractional expression into standard form by rationalizing the denominator." It gives the fraction (9)/(4th root)(2). I multiplied both the numerator and the denominator by (4throot)(2). The answer key says "((9)(4th root)(8))/(2)", but I'm not sure how to get to that answer. Should I be multiplying the fraction by the starting denminator, or should I change the exponents?arrow_forward
