List and briefly explain 3 advantages of pipe earthing as applied to earthing systems design
Advantages of pipe earthing
(i) Pipe earthing is primarily done to earth high-powered machines since it has wire earth contact and increases safety by earthing more leakage current.
(ii) Because of its circular shape, GI pipe has a larger contact surface area with soil than a plate and can therefore handle significant leakage current for the same electrode size.
(iii) Because the GI pipe is above ground level, the earth wire connection can be examined for continuity checks whenever needed, however plate-earthing is challenging. Compared to plate-earthing, it has a benefit.
(iv) Iron is the least expensive material and keeps working even when submerged in the salty earth.
