Linear Programming
A craftswoman produces two products: floor lamps and table lamps. Production of one floor lamp requires 75 minutes of her labor and materials that cost P250. Production of one table lamp requires 50 minutes of labor, and the materials cost P200. The craftswoman wishes to work no more than 40 hours each week, and her financial resources allow her to pay no more than P9,000 for materials each week. She can sell as many lamps as she can make and her profit is P390 per floor lamp and P330 per table lamp.
1. Identify the variables.
2. Set up the objective function.
3. Give the constraints in mathematical expression.
4. Graph the constraints and identify the solution.
5. How many floor lamps and how many table lamps should she make each week to maximize her weekly profit?
6. What is that maximum profit per week?

- Ginny knits two different capes. The ‘Ginny’ model requires 3 hours of knitting and 7 hours to embellish the cape. The ‘Helen’ model requires 5 hours to knit and 5 hours to embellish the cape. Ginny has at most 60 hours a month to knit the capes and at most100 hours a month to embellish the capes. How many capes should she make to maximize her profit if she makes a profit of $80 on each ‘Ginny’ cape and a profit of $100 on each ‘Helen’.arrow_forwardhelparrow_forwardA division of the Winston Furniture Company manufactures dining tables and chairs. Each table requires 40 board feet of wood and 5 labor-hours. Each chair requires 16 board feet of wood and 4 labor-hours. The profit for each table is $45, and the profit for each chair is $26. In a certain week, the company has 3200 board feet of wood available and 520 labor-hours available. The table is 60inches long and 30inches wide. the total budget is 4000 dollars. How to maximize the profit.arrow_forwardA manufacturer produces two models of toy airplanes. It takes the manufacturer 32 minutes to assemble model A and 8 minutes to package it. It takes the manufacturer 20 minutes to assemble model B and 10 minutes to package it. In a given week, the total available time for assembling is 3200 minutes, and the total available time for packaging is 960 minutes. Model A earns a profit of $10 for each unit sold and model B earns a profit of $8 for each unit sold. Assuming the manufacturer is able to sell as many models as it makes, how many units of each model should be produced to maximize the profit for the given week?
