score for the exam was a 105 with a standard deviation of 10. The language
department at Chapel Hill requires a raw score of 125 to get credit by exam for
first-year Spanish. Recall z =(x-mean)/std dev
a. Compute Joel's raw score (the numerical value - also known as x)
b. Will Joel get credit for first year Spanish based on his exam? Why?
c. What percentage of students at Carolina who take the standardized test
actually get credit for first-year Spanish by examination?
