Is Atrial Fibrillation a lethal rhythm?
A human heart have four chambers: upper two atrium and lower two ventricles. All the four chamber function in rhythmic with each other as the blood is pumps from an atria to ventricles in single heart beat, the ventricle pumps blood into body at the same time. This is normal cycle of the blood -pumping system, if there is any disruption in the flow, then it causes problem in the body system.
Atrial fibrillation will occur in the heart's two upper chamber i.e Atrium. It is the condition in which the atrium will passively pump the blood into the ventricles. The blood wont completely empty into ventricle.
Atrial fibrillation is irregular and a rapid heart arrthymia. During this condition, the upper chamber will receive chaotic signals resulting in the upper chamber to beat chaotically and irregularly, not being in sync with lower ventricle. Its symptoms include :
- Sensation of fast and pounding heartbeat
- chest pain
- Fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- lightheadedness
