Concept explainers
Indicate whether the following sentences is either True or False and CORRECT the wrong sentences ( please answer the two questions 1 and 2) :
1. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is a protein complex that mediates cell apoptosis and presents in the cytoplasm .
2. Roseola infantum is a viral infection of infants that causes a high fever followed by a rash caused by HSV .
PCNA (proliferating cell nuclear antigen) is well conserved protein which found in all eukaryotic species as well as in Archea. They acts as a processivity factor for DNA polymerase delta in eukaryotic cells and is key factor in DNA replication and cell cycle regulation.
PCNA found in the nuclei of yeast, plant and animal cells that are going in the process of cell division.
PCNA is a homotrimer and besides DNA replication it also helps in the chromatin remodelling, DNA repair and sister-chromatid cohesion and cell cycle control.
Hence, the first sentence is false as the PCNA is not mediate cell apoptosis but hepls in the DNA replication and it is foundi in the nuclei of the eukaryotes.
Correct sentence-
Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is a protein complex that essential for DNA replication and presents in the nucleus.
