In what ways can tacit knowledge be made explicit and codified? What mechanisms exist to help the sharing and transfer of knowledge within an organization?
Any organization's most valuable asset is its knowledge, which appreciates the more it is disseminated. The way that knowledge is seen has changed due to a paradigm shift. Workers used to stay with a company for the duration of their careers. Yet, employees are now often changing occupations. They take their knowledge with them when they depart. Hence, while knowledge sharing and collaboration might help the organization by allowing the knowledge to stay within the company, knowledge hoarding among individuals can undermine the institution.
