In an investigation using Drosophila, an undergraduate student successfully described 2 new genes and named them Marvel and DC genes, respectively. The Marvel gene has two alleles whereby the dominant allele is represented by M and the recessive allele is m. The DC gene also has two alleles where the dominant allele D is dominant to the recessive allele d. Data obtained during the research suggests that perhaps the genes are located on chromosome #7.
