Question
If I was interpreting the results of Durham tubes, Glucose, Lactose, Sucrose, for Staphylococcus Epidermides, How would I do that? Meaning which letters would I put in, and does Staphylococcus produce gas in those three bottles?
Expert Solution

Step 1
The broth tubes also contain sugars other than glucose such as lactose and mannitol. Due to a similar pH indicator, phenol red is also used in the fermentation tubes. The same results are considered positive for instance a lactose broth tube turns yellow after the period of incubation is inoculated with an organism that ferments the lactose.
