Joints refer to the structures that function in joining the two bones. They are responsible for allowing the movement in the body upto different degrees. Some joints of the body included the elbow joint, knee joint, or shoulder joint.

Based on structures, joints are classified into three types: fibrous, cartilaginous, and a synovial joint.

The fibrous joint refers to the joint connected with connective tissue whose principal component is collagen fiber.
Cartilaginous joint represents a joint which is composed of cartilage.
A synovial joint is present between the bones that are not completely connected but are associated with an irregular connective tissue.

Based on function, there are three types of joints: synarthroses, amphiarthrosis, and diarthroses.

Synarthroses- this joint does not allow any movement in a normal situation. Such as joints of the skull.
Amphiarthrosis - these are the joints which allow only limited movement example includes cartilaginous joint.
Diarthroses- these are the joints which allow free movable movement example includes the synovial joint.
