Question
I managed to find the magnitude of the resultant force for this problem which was 356 N from its components derived from the sum of forces where I got <200,-280> I used the arc tan to get and angle of 54.5 deg but this is not right what am I doing wrong?
Expert Solution

Step 1
Based on the signs of the x and y components of the resultant force, note that the resultant force lies in the fourth quadrant. The x component being positive and the y component being negative means that the angle between the resultant force and the x-axis should be between 270 and 360 degrees, or equivalently, between -90 and 0 degrees.
