I have the following vectors, I have a problem with understanding why one becomes 'a+b' and the other 'b-a' and visualising it.
I have the following
Vectors are geometric objects with both magnitude and direction. We will consider two vectors, a and b, and their graphical representation for both addition and subtraction.
Vector Addition
When adding two vectors a and b, we can graphically represent this by placing the tail of b at the head of a (or vice versa). The resultant vector a + b will have its tail at the tail of the first vector and its head at the head of the second vector.
Vector Subtraction
Subtracting vector b from vector a implies finding the vector which, when added to b, would yield a. Graphically, to represent a - b, we draw a vector from the head of b to the head of a, when both vectors have their tails at a common point.
