Question

I am working on an internal forces problem where I am trying to find the shear force and function of the bending moment around a point 14ft<x<=21ft I ended up getting a shear of -10 kips and a bending moment of 10(x-14)  these are not the right answers how do I do this?

forces into components parallel and
perpendicular to the axis of the beam.
Specify separate coordinates for each
segment of
of the beam between points where
point forces, couple moments, and/or
changes in distributed loads occur.
Section the beam at each ; chosen in the
previous step and use the method of
sections to find V(x) and M(x) for that
segment. To avoid confusion, always draw
V and M in their positive sense according
to the sign convention as shown in (
Figure 3).
• Plot the functions V(x) and M(x), each
on its own coordinate system.
• Generally, the free-body diagram, shear
vene
diagram, and bending-moment diagram are
drawn together, arranged vertically, and
aligned and drawn to scale so that the ends
of the beam and the points of discontinuity
are aligned.
In the simply-supported beam shown in (Figure 4),
d₁ = 14 ft, d₂ = 7 ft, and F = 15 kips.
