How many food chains is the grasshopper a part of?
Expert Solution
Introduction

A sequential transfer of energy from one organism to another organism in the form of food is referred to as food chain. Food chain consists of various levels including producers, primary consumer, secondary consumer and tertiary consumer.

Producers are autotrophs and, by photosynthesis, they produce their own food. The primary consumers are herbivores and they feed on producers. Secondary consumers (carnivores or omnivores) are third level consumer that prey on the primary consumer. Both omnivores or carnivores can also be tertiary consumers and prey on the secondary consumer.
