Q5

How many different ways are there to select a group of 8 out of 10 people for a group project in which there are no distinct roles?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Considering the distinct roles do not matter, i.e., the order of the selected people in a group of 8 does not matter, the combination is to be used for obtaining the no. of ways to select a group of 8 people from the available 10 people.

From n available elements, a group of elements with size r is formed, irrespective of the order of the elements. So the possible no. of combinations is: nCr=n!r! n-r!; n!=1×2×3×..×n; r!=1×2×3×...×r; rn.
