How is our Constitution a "living" document?
4. What is the Bill of Rights and why did many of our founding fathers demand its inclusion before the Constitution could be ratified? Do you see any of these "rights" as a remedy to the abuses outlined in the Declaration of Independence? If so, where?
The constitution of the United States of America is one of the oldest written Constitutions of modern democracy, and it is the supreme law of the land. It came into force in 1789, and it ensures sovereignty, republicanism, separation of powers, checks and balances, and federalism and upholds the welfare of the people.
Although the constitution is in force for almost 200 years, it has been amended only 27 times, thus portraying the rigidity of the written word.
