differ? In what ways are they similar?
Expert Solution
Step 1
Locus of control -
locus of control refer to the degree in which events are in control of an individual. there are two types of locus of control
- internal - when individual belief that have control over a situation.
external- when individual belief that there other force who are in control. like luck or fate.
self efficacy
when a person beliefs over their capabilities to perform or they know they can perform in various task is known as self efficacy
Step 2
difference in the concept of locus of control and self efficacy
- locus of control is the belief that outcomes can be controlled where as self- efficacy is the belief of a person's own ability to perform . for example. if a student is performing he might believe that he is going to win that is his locus of control because he might have prepared well. if that student believes that he can win as he is prepared well then this shows his self efficacy.
- locus of control can be external or internal in situation ( both in negative and positive) but self- efficacy is based on the belief of person own his own skill and capabilities for example. a student score less in science and history he might blame the external factor due to his external locus of control but that students believe that he was capable of scoring more, he would have made some mistake.
