The sixth monarch of Babylon's Amorite First Dynasty was named Hammurabi. The regulations he wrote down on a stele and erected in the Marduk Temple are best known as the Code of Hammurabi. One of the most significant legal texts in history, the Code of Hammurabi inspired the creation of law in many other societies, including ancient Greece and Rome.
