Explain the difference between civil law and criminal law

Principles and rules set by some authority in a community and applied to its inhabitants, whether in the form of legislation or custom and policies recognised and enforced by court judgement .  Any written or affirmative regulation or set of norms imposed by the authority of a state or nation, such as by the people in its constitution. Law is described as a rule of behaviour imposed by the government or society over a certain territory. It is necessary to follow the law.
