Explain Multistage Cluster Sampling?
Sampling refers to a process of statistical and systematic data collection. A sample is a small group of people that the researcher selects to fit his/her requirement for data collection. The sample represents a larger population.
There are two main sampling techniques in sociology. These are- probability sampling and non-probability.
Cluster sampling is a probability sampling process in which the population is divided into smaller groups for conducting a research study. Then random groups are selected from among those groups by using the method of systematic random sampling. Multi-stage cluster sampling is a complex form of cluster sampling in which the sample sizes decrease in each consecutive stage. In this form of sampling, the researcher selects random elements from each cluster to form a smaller cluster. It is a cost-effective form of survey and is more accurate than other types of cluster sampling. However, it is not as precise as Simple random sampling.
