Explain Early South American Civilization: Chavín
The Carol civilization - also known as the Norte Chico civilization - is a complex society, with characters unique to its people, but interconnected. It is now in northwestern coastal Peru and dates from 3500–1700 BC. Some have argued that this is the oldest known civilization in America, while others claim that there is little evidence for the political, economic, and religious structures to say with certainty that Carroll society was in fact civilization. For example, those who study Carol sites agree that modern government is needed to maintain them, but the question is how it was managed to manage these construction projects.
The most attractive instrument in the Carol community is its monumental structure, which includes large earthen platform mounds and sunken circular plazas. Carol's urban campus is spread over 150 acres, and at its peak, about 3,000 people lived in Carol. Other Andean civilizations used their town plan for the next 4,000 years, including the central plaza and the surrounding temples with houses.
