Re: Patient Equity: Social Determinants to Improve Patient Care
Many factors can affect a person's health and well-being outside of medicine. These factors are called social determinants of health. The US healthcare system has traditionally been one of the most important determinants of health and health outcomes. Social determinants of health must be understood to achieve health equity and improve patient care. Uneven opportunities for health create social determinants that contribute to health disparities.
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this study is to improve patient equity and use social determinants to improve patient care. Providing good patient care is the most important thing when it comes to healthcare. Creating good health environments for all is accomplished by addressing social determinants. To achieve this goal, healthy behaviors must be promoted, and conditions must be created that support health. Addressing social determinants goes beyond treating diseases; they contribute significantly to the delivery of healthcare. The root causes of health disparities must be identified and rectified before we can create more equitable healthcare. Everyone should have access to healthy living no matter their situation or background, no matter what their socioeconomic status may be.
Objective
The objective of the study is to understand the role of social determinants in improving patient care and promoting health equity. By understanding the role of these factors, healthcare providers can identify areas where they are needed to improve patient care. Additionally, they can use this data to create targeted interventions that can help reduce health disparities and promote health equity. As a result, health outcomes will be improved, and health disparities will be reduced. It also seeks to identify the purpose and challenges associated with addressing these social determinants. The importance of understanding how social determinants can impact health outcomes and well-being in healthcare cannot be overstated. To achieve health equity and comprehensive well-being, healthcare must go beyond curing illnesses.
Problem
Social determinants are no doubt challenging to address. Many factors can contribute to this, including lack of awareness, insufficient resources, unequal access to healthcare, and systemic issues like poverty and discrimination that are difficult to change. Disparities in healthcare can be addressed by addressing social determinants within the healthcare system. Disparities in health outcomes impact health equity negatively.
Research Question
- Can we prove or not prove that social determinants play a significant role in the way healthcare is delivered?
- To build a fairer healthcare system, why is it important to address social determinants?
- Among the many social factors that contribute to health inequities and disparities, what role do social determinants play?
Conclusion
In healthcare, you often see issues that affect patients and how they receive care, which inspires you to make a difference. To develop a more equitable healthcare system, it is critical to improve social determinants in the patient equity model. Preventing disease, focusing on inclusion, and achieving better health outcomes are the overall goals of establishing a healthcare system that goes beyond treating disease.
Questions
Limitation of Study
What are the barriers or roadblocks that stand in the way of obtaining the data needed? Where will you get the appropriate data to test your research question?
What strategies would be used implement to remove/overcome these obstacles/roadblocks?
Briefly describe the methodologies and methods (data collection, statistical models, and analysis) that will be used to conduct the study. Quantitative approaches include experimental, quasi-experimental, or non-experimental. Please state the approach, and then how it is consistent with the research problem/question.
Describe the statistical model. What model wold be used If using a particular quantitative model (e.g., structural equation modeling or a specific kind of regression analysis), describe it here. The model must align with the research question in the MEMO
