Question

Evaluate the integral

integral 0 to infinity

-x dx  , for n= 0,1,2,3

Expert Solution
Step 1

We are given the function fx=xne-x.

Our aim is to find the integral of f(x) from 0 to infinity for n = 0, 1, 2, 3.

Step 2

Take n = 0.

Thus, integral can be evaluated as follows;

0e-xdx=-e-x0=-e--e0=-0-1=1

Taking, n = 1, the integral value will be,

0xe-xdx=-xe-x0+0e-xdx=0+1=1

Taking, n = 2, the integral value will be,

0x2e-xdx=-x2e-x0+20xe-xdx=0+21=2

Taking, n = 3, the integral value will be,

0x3e-xdx=-x3e-x0+30x2e-xdx=0+32=6
