available for this study. Fifty athletes were assigned at random to the current training
program, while the other fifty athletes were assigned to new training program. After
committing themselves to the training programs for three months, the 50 athletes who
received the older training program had a mean decrease in weight of 10 pounds with a
standard deviation of 8 pounds, and the 50 athletes who received the new training
program had a mean decrease of 18 pounds with a standard deviation of 12 pounds.
