Transcribed Image Text:We have the results back from our analysis of all the candy bars our factory produced last week. Overall, the weights of the bars appear to be uniformly distributed between 980 and 1000 grams.
I am very concerned about the new government regulation requiring us to have at least 70% of the candy bars we produce within 5 grams of the weight advertised on our packaging. In a few weeks from now, the government inspector will be coming, and we would be facing a one-time fine of $10,000 if we are not accurate enough with our packaging.
If we keep the advertised weight on the packaging of 1000 grams, would we pass the inspection? If not, would we pass the inspection if we changed our package labeling to 990 grams?
We currently have $5000 worth of packaging with the 1000 gram label, so if we switched to 990 gram label it would effectively cost us $5000.
What should we do?
