Do some self-directed learning and provide an example of how to use the switch-case statement in Matlab.
Expert Solution
Step 1: Explanation
- A switch block executes one set of statements based on one of several options. A case statement is used to cover each option.
- A scalar or string is an evaluated switch expression.
- A scalar, a string, or a cell array of scalars or strings is an evaluated case expression.
- Each case is tested in the switch block until one of them is true.
- When a case is true, MATLAB performs the statements associated with it before exiting the switch block.
- The otherwise block is optional and only executes when none of the cases are true.
Syntax:
switch <switch_expression>
case <case_expression>
<statements>
case <case_expression>
