Do different emotions activate different physiological and brain-patternresponses?

Emotions reflect the subjective experience of a person that is accompanied by physiological responses. Based on his research findings, psychologist Paul Ekman (1972) came up with six basic emotions that are observed across cultures and societies. The six emotions are happiness, surprise, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust.

Ekman investigated the non-verbal behavior including the facial expression of people belonging to different cultures. He  observed that facial expressions associated with basic emotions are similar among various cultures.
