Urbanization- the process by which a country becomes urbanized. Usually represented by the growing proportion of the total population living in urban areas (cities and towns), however such settlements are defined in a particular country. Measured by the share of a country’s population in urban areas, which has a theoretical range from zero to 100 percent but typically falls in between these extremes.
Uneven growth of the city- The unequal spatial development of cities, with older portions often sitting idle and left to decline while newer growth occurs in the outer rings of the city. An extension of Karl Marx’s ideas by David Harvey that is intended to show how urban growth inevitably produces inequalities and injustice.
