describe the immune roles of interferons and the
complement system;
The immune system is a protective mechanism of the human body to fight against foreign particles like bacteria, viruses, parasites. The human body is surrounded by opportunistic pathogens that tend to attack the body and cause infection. The immune system comprises cells and some proteins that attack, weaken and kill the antigen. Immunity is of two types innate and adaptive immunity.
Innate immunity is the type of non-specific immunity. It is a kind of immunity one acquires by birth hence also called inborn immunity. Innate immunity includes immunity like physical barrier skin, immune cells, and some chemicals in the blood.
Adaptive immunity is the immunity that the body acquires during its lifetime when it comes in contact with a pathogen. Then the pathogen is kept as memory in case it attacks the body again. Adaptive immunity is more complex than innate immunity.
