Question
Describe the Dispersive clays.
Expert Solution
Step 1
Dispersive clays vary from ordinary clays which are erosion resistant since their relative content is higher with dissolved sodium in the pore water.
Step 2
The electrochemical forces between particles of dispersive clays are imbalant. Such imbalance causes the minute particles of soil to be repulsed in a dispersive clay, rather than attracted to each other. Thus, dispersive clay particles appear to behave as single-grained particles rather than as aggregated particle masses.
