Describe how to use for loops with enum types.
Describe how to use for loops with enum types.
"values()" method:
- The static method “values()” of the “java.lang.Enum” class provides an array of “enum” values.
- Iteration over the array can be accomplished using “for” loop.
Description of “for” loop is given as follows:
- The “for” loop is a way of writing the loop in a concise manner.
- The “for” loop use the initialization, condition and increment or decrement in a single line.
- The “for” loop provides the shorted and the easiest way to debug a loop structure.
The syntax of for loop is given as follows:
for (initialization_loop; condition ; increment/decrement)
{
//Statements
}
Example with the role of “enum” is as follows:
File name: “Sample.java”
//Define the main class
public class Sample
{
//Define the enums
enum weekdays
{
//Define the days.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
}
//Define the main() function
public static void main(String[] args)
{
//Begin the for loop to traverse the enum of days
for (weekdays day : weekdays.values())
{
//Display the days
System.out.println(day);
}
}
}
