Introduction:- Crossing over is the exchange of portions ( genetic segments) of non sister chromatids between homologous chromosomes .As the chromosome begin to move apart at the end of first prophase of meiosis ,they remain in contact at a point known as chiasmata .At this point the chromatid breaks and rejoin in such a way that the sections or genetic segments or chromosomal segments are being exchanged .
