construction
You are working as a project engineer at a construction site. The beam that is required to build the bridge has to be determined prior to the material purchase. Calculate the slope and deflection of 2 different types of beams and the specification for data analysis below. Derive the equation model of the elastic curve in your design
a) Beam 1 - A simply supported beam of 5m span is carrying a point load of 30000N at a distance of 3m from the left and support. the EI = 2.6 x 1011 N/cm2. Determine the slope at the low support and deflection under the load point.
b) Beam 2 - A cantilever is 4m long and it carries a uniformly distributed load of 30kN/m.nm. If moment of inertia of the section of the cantilever is 12500cm4 and E = 2 x 104 kN/cm2. Determine the deflection and slope at a point distant 1m until the free end.
