ESTIMATION OF A POPULATION PROPORTION project
- Choose a topic in which to solicit count data. Please check with the instructor for approval before taking your data. You may do this project alone or with another person in the class.
- Take a sample of 30 from the population in which you are concerned. If possible, make your sample a SRS (simple random sample).
- Then present the following information for your project:
- i asked people if they got pulled over in a school zone did they get a ticket or not
- did you get a ticket when getting pulled over in a school zone
- Compute the proportion for your sample. Show your computation.
- Find a 95% confidence interval for p. What is the margin of error for this confidence interval? What is the meaning of this interval with respect to your data and project?
Construct and perform a hypothesis test for p at the significance level . What conclusions can you draw from this test?
